Date and Walnut Loaf

Date and Walnut Loaf Ingredients 1 cup chopped dates 1 Tab butter 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 egg, slightly beaten 1 1/2 cups SR flour 1 teaspoon bicarb soda 1 cup boiling water 1/2 cup chopped walnuts Method Place dates, butter, brown sugar and bicarb in boiling water.Let stand until cool. Then add egg, walnuts and flour, mix well. Place in greased loaf tin (23cm x 10cm)and bake in moderate oven for 30 minutes...scrummy! Thanks Jane!
