Winter Sewing jds_user, June 27, 2016February 11, 2017 Winter Sewing at Judi’s studio means wool knits, wool boucle coats, boiled wool jacket and vests. I mean todays temperatures range is from 0 – 3 degrees C, we need seriously warm gear! Meredith, one of very able sewers, made Simplicity 1254 brilliantly in wool boucle and faux fur. Not the bestdirections from Simplicity so see my step by step for the hidden zip closure in Lessons. We have also road tested Tessuti’s The Sydney Jacket( No lining, no interfacing and no finishing) with some great results with beginners and more experienced students alike. Felted wools and boiled wools work best and with double stitched seams rather than edged stitched as they suggest the finished seaming is remarkably robust. Using some of the clever Kilt Pins from Tessuti make it a smart alternative to the much laboured overcoats of the past! More photos of the finished projects to come! Judy News
